Introduction:
"We're newly arrived in the Geneva area, and newly interested in ponds. We've seen beautiful waterlily ponds in public gardens, and would love to reproduce one in miniature in our own garden. We joined the club to get advice from the professionals."
Would you like to get some goldfish or aquatic plants from Suzanne and Peter for your own pond? Do you have any fish or plants you'd like to offer to other members?
"Before we get fish or plants, we'd better build our pond first. We'll attend club meetings to get design and construction ideas, then install a pond in our garden. We'll share our excess plants and fish when ours eventually multiply sufficiently."
How did you learn about our Geneva Area Pond Club? Please specify the web site or bulletin board location or person from whom you learned about us. Will you tell any friends interested in ponds about us too? Membership and meetings are all free.
"We first heard neighbors talking about the club, then saw its classified ads on the WRGFM.com and XpatXchange.ch web sites, then saw bulletin board notices in Migros and other super markets, then saw its impressive web site, prompting us to join."
Which topics would you like to hear discussed at our next meeting? Have you submitted your RSVP yet to let us know whether or not you can attend the upcoming meeting? Click to get full details under "Upcoming Group Events" on our Welcome page.
"Because we're new at keeping ponds, we'd first like to learn about their design and construction, then which pump and filter would be best, then which water plants and pond fish survive winters in the Geneva area, then how to propagate them both."
If you already have a pond, how would you describe its size and appearance? What kind of plants and fish inhabit the pond? If you don't yet have a pond, would you like to learn how to create one? Can you offer (or do you need) any pond equipment?
"We don't yet have a pond, so we joined this club to get advice before we make any mistakes in designing and constructing one. Having read the club's web site, we've decided to make our pond much bigger than we originally planned. Thanks for the tips."
In what town near Geneva do you live? Can you host one of our informal get-togethers there? Simple snacks and beverages are all we expect, but if you want to make our get-together a bigger party, should we all bring a dish to share?
"We recently moved to Borex, between Crassier and Eysins. A meeting here won't draw many club members until we install a pond. When it's built, we'll be happy to host a meeting here, with some snacks. We can accommodate about 20 people in our garden."
Additional information:
"This seems to be the most active social group in the Geneva area, with events attracting many people twice a month. We recently moved here and know just a few people, but feel we'll soon make many good friends among other members of the pond club."
