Introduction:
"We never had a pond, but the ones we've seen inspire us to install one in our own garden. We joined this club to visit a different club member's pond each month. We'll incorporate the best features of each into our own pond. Then you can admire ours!"
Would you like to get some goldfish or aquatic plants from Suzanne and Peter for your own pond? Do you have any fish or plants you'd like to offer to other members?
"Until our pond is built, the fish and plants had better stay in Suzanne and Peter's pond. (They might not appreciating waiting so many months without water.) We'll be very generous when we have surplus fish and plants of our own."
How did you learn about our Geneva Area Pond Club? Please specify the web site or bulletin board location or person from whom you learned about us. Will you tell any friends interested in ponds about us too? Membership and meetings are all free.
"We learned about the pond club by reading the web site of Suzanne and Peter's other group, the Geneva Area Turtle and Tortoise Society. Friends will come as our guests to some of the meetings of each club."
Which topics would you like to hear discussed at our next meeting? Have you submitted your RSVP yet to let us know whether or not you can attend the upcoming meeting? Click to get full details under "Upcoming Group Events" on our Welcome page.
"Constructing a pond by ourselves will be quite a challenge, so we hope one meeting will be devoted to all the basics: various designs, choice of liners, reliable pumps and filters, hardy plants and fish, etc. Both of us will attend the next meeting."
If you already have a pond, how would you describe its size and appearance? What kind of plants and fish inhabit the pond? If you don't yet have a pond, would you like to learn how to create one? Can you offer (or do you need) any pond equipment?
"Peter tells us everyone who builds a pond soon wishes it were larger. We'll make our pond much larger than we originally planned. Will we soon wish it were even larger? How far does this concept go? How about a deep, wide moat surrounding our house?"
In what town near Geneva do you live? Can you host one of our informal get-togethers there? Simple snacks and beverages are all we expect, but if you want to make our get-together a bigger party, should we all bring a dish to share?
"Our home is in Prangins, not far from Nyon. A meeting here wouldn't impress any pond club members, because we haven't yet built our pond. But we can host a meeting later for up to about 12 people, with all the snacks and drinks they can consume."
Additional information:
"We were surprised to learn that Suzanne and Peter pay all the expenses of operating this club, including the monthly fee to Meetup for hosting this web site. They charge members nothing, so they're very dedicated to spreading their love for ponds."

Meetups

  • Geneva Area Pond Club

"Everyone in this club seems to go out of their way to help others, including newcomers like us. They offer us good advice from their experiences, and fish and plants from their ponds--all for free. This is the friendliest club we've ever joined."

  • Geneva Area Turtle and Tortoise Society

"Our first turtle society meeting taught us more about turtles and tortoises than we read in the books we bought. By the time we acquire our first tortoises, we'll feel like expert herpetologists."
