Introduction:
"In Old French the name Gardinier means gardener. It's appropriate for me, because I'm an avid gardener. My latest passion is water gardening, specializing in the hybridizing of goldfish. I hope to meet other water gardeners near my home in Eysins."
Would you like to get some goldfish or aquatic plants from Suzanne and Peter for your own pond? Do you have any fish or plants you'd like to offer to other members?
"Our goldfish breed freely, so I can offer club members some of my own. I keep specific shebunkins to establish particular color strains and patterns, and find new homes for the others born here."
How did you learn about our Geneva Area Pond Club? Please specify the web site or bulletin board location or person from whom you learned about us. Will you tell any friends interested in ponds about us too? Membership and meetings are all free.
"I kept hearing about this great new English-language pond club that was founded near Geneva, but could get no more details. Finally in desperation I Googled "pond Geneva" and found tons of references to the club on the Internet. I joined immediately."
Which topics would you like to hear discussed at our next meeting? Have you submitted your RSVP yet to let us know whether or not you can attend the upcoming meeting? Click to get full details under "Upcoming Group Events" on our Welcome page.
"We're most interested in crossbreeding shebunkin goldfish to fix particular patterns and colors (as other ponders do with koi), so that should be a good subject to discuss at a meeting. We submit RSVPs and attend meetings whenever we can."
If you already have a pond, how would you describe its size and appearance? What kind of plants and fish inhabit the pond? If you don't yet have a pond, would you like to learn how to create one? Can you offer (or do you need) any pond equipment?
"I have one large pond for my breeding-age desirable shebunkins, and three small ponds for the youngsters, separated out by color. When the small fry develop their final colors and patterns, I keep the desirables for breeding and give away the rest."
In what town near Geneva do you live? Can you host one of our informal get-togethers there? Simple snacks and beverages are all we expect, but if you want to make our get-together a bigger party, should we all bring a dish to share?
"I live in Eysins, just west of Nyon. I'll feel comfortable hosting a meeting here with snacks and drinks after I meet the other members at a get-together elsewhere."
Additional information:
"We're interested in turtles, so we've also joined Suzanne and Peter's other group, the Geneva Area Turtle and Tortoise Society. We've made close friends in each organization, and look forward to meeting many more."

  • Geneva Area Turtle and Tortoise Society

"We felt an instant bond to those whom we met in this organization--not just because we share an affection for turtles and tortoises, but because the group's members are all so friendly, outgoing, intelligent, amusing, and curious about everything. Suzanne and Peter have somehow gathered together a marvelous collection of interesting people, all of whom are passionate about turtles, tortoises, and dozens of other subjects. We're glad we joined the group."

"Some members are interested in raising aquatic plants; others are more interested in breeding goldfish, as I am. I did meet two others who are cross-breeeding shebunkins to establish particular colors and patterns, which is my special interest. (We've arranged to exchange breeding stock to improve our strains.) But I realize that Suzanne and Peter's ponds are so beautiful because of the wide variety of aquatic plants blooming there. I decided to add many to my own ponds, and Peter gave me all I want for free. I love how much they now enhance my water garden."
